Public Speaker
Most people prefer the dentist chair over public speaking. Not me. Give me a microphone and I’m off on a long love affair with the audible word, honed over decades and developed through a variety of life experiences.

In high school, I was chosen head of the Girls’ Leaders Club. I’d talk business in front of highly athletic girls who seriously bested me in sports, yet remained surprisingly tolerant of my role as speaker.
In law school, fellow students nominated me team spokesperson for moot court trial. My oral arguments proved persuasive, even if my interest in a future law career was non-existent.
Following a move to Florida, I was quickly promoted to Sales Manager in the rapidly developing Telecom industry. Conducting regular sales and motivational meetings meant keeping one step ahead of highly energized sales reps.

The years that followed as Publisher of New Vision Entertainment LLC provided me with loads of public speaking roles while appearing before a multitude of audiences:
The sales, management and support personnel I addressed through a nine year career in Telecom.
The hundreds of sales reps I trained at sales fairs and during formal presentations while supporting my husband’s computer rep business.
The scores of little children and teachers I spoke to as Publisher of a preschool series of books.
The 800 Spanish-speaking elementary school children I motivated during a pep rally, Si Yo Puedo!
The civic, special interest, and women’s groups that booked me as a speaker for luncheons, brunches and leadership events.
The elder care patients for whom I’d sing, tell stories and play the piano, often with my daughter in tow.
The incarcerated teenage girls who would gather in their juvenile facility to listen and take part in discussions I introduced and hope my words would offer.

In addition to on-site speaking events, I’ve published a preschool series of books and music under the name Inky Winky Spider and co-created a cartoon sports character named MIKE seen on www.theemike.com . I’ve appeared in both television and radio interviews covering legislative, cultural, and children’s literacy issues.
These days, I’ve developed my own public speaking outlet on www.maura4u.com . Google Maura4u on YouTube and you can find me anywhere – sharing backdrops, asking questions, and inspiring viewers to get more out of Life.
I think I’ve made my point. I am a Public Speaker. Now give me that mic!
